Area Servicemen to be Honored During SteelStacks’ Memorial Day Celebration May 26-28

Memorial Day

“Our Hometown Heroes” display tops 1,000 images

A record 1,000 images of local veterans and active military personnel will greet guests at the annual Memorial Day Celebration presented by Embassy Bank May 26-28 at SteelStacks. As part of the “Our Hometown Heroes” display, veterans, active members of the U.S. military and their families submitted 133 photos in 2018, bringing the total number of images submitted since “Our Hometown Heroes” began in 2011 to 1,031. The weekend also includes veterans’ programs and remembrance activities, transforming SteelStacks into a living memorial honoring men and women from throughout the region who have made the ultimate sacrifice while serving our country.

“When we started ‘Our Hometown Heroes’ in 2011, we could not have envisioned the overwhelming response this project would receive,” says Embassy Bank CEO, President and Chairman Dave Lobach Jr. “When you think about the fact that there are now more than 1,000 images of veterans and active and former military personnel on the banners it’s simply incredible. ‘Our Hometown Heroes’ has been embraced by our region’s residents since day one and really highlights the respect our community has for everyone who protects and serves our great nation.”
