This workshop will focus on playing characters who are wildly different than you on the surface, but who can still be portrayed as being very close to yourself in mannerism, speech, etc. We’ll look at playing characters in scenes with exciting professions, dealing with huge life experiences, stuck in life or death scenarios and who believe in strange game-driving point of views, but who still feel and act very much like you!

Students must have completed ArtsQuest's Improv 101 in order to take this class. If you have not taken Improv 101 with ArtsQuest but have other experience (Upright Citizen's Brigade, Philly Improv Theater) and want to enroll, please contact Ryan Hill.

Terry Withers started improvising in 2007 and hasn't looked back. A past teacher and performer of The Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre, Terry is now the Managing Director of Baltimore Improv Group (BIG) and can often be seen at BIG at Thursday's weekly Improv Jam, Impropourri. He also teaches improv as a faculty member of BIG University and tours the nation with a few different improv shows, including David Mamet’s The New David Mamet play, which was a hit at the 2017 SteelStacks Improv Comedy Festival.

Terry will be also be sitting in with ManDudeBro for their Sep 29 show.
