Festivals @ SteelStacks
The Lehigh Valley will become known as one of the nation’s premier destinations
for festivals in the years following the opening of the SteelStacks campus.
Plans for several new music festivals are already underway. They include:
- South Mountain Folk Festival - This event will
feature folk artists from around the United States while celebrating
a genre that has strong roots in the Lehigh Valley.
- Blast Furnace Blues Festival - In mid-September,
Bethlehem will come alive with the heart-wrenching, soul-stirring
sounds of the blues.
- River Jazz Festival - A variety of artists, styles
and sounds will be showcased in July.
- Steel Jam - Improvisational, free form music and dancing will be the order of the day as ArtsQuest presents jam bands from near and far on Labor Day Weekend!
- Oktoberfest - A traditional German Oktoberfest
celebration will
take center stage.
- InVision -An
international photography festival.
Other proposed festivals include:
The Fringe Festival, the Lehigh Valley’s entry into
the world of fringe festivals, and the Lehigh Valley International
Festival, an annual May event that will celebrate a different country
each year and provide opportunities to learn more about the people and the
culture of that country.
In addition to new events, several existing festivals will hold some or all of their activities at SteelStacks. For example, Musikfest will present its RiverPlace main stage at SteelStacks’ Festival Plaza and the Musikfest Café will be open for performances during the festival.
