Daily Happenings at Oktoberfest

Free Games

Spielplatz & Biergartens

Our Oktoberfest wouldn’t be complete without a smattering of whimsical games that you probably wouldn’t play anywhere but at an Oktoberfest! Check your inhibitions at the door and celebrate the harvest with our crazy fun games and challenges! Games are FREE to play.

  • Masskrugstemmen – Our take on the traditional Oktoberfest test of strength & endurance. How long can you hold pitchers of beer straight-out at arms length, without spilling or bending your elbows?
  • Barrel Roll – Teams of two roll a beer barrel across our course, using only one hand each, to earn the fastest time!
  • Stein Race – Try and score the fastest time across our playing field while you carry 6 mugs of beer, filled to the brim with yesterday’s beer. Penalties assessed for spillage!

Creativity Tent

with the Banana Factory Arts Center

There is fun for all ages at the Creativity Tent, where you can create traditional German crafts and autumn inspired creations, as well as help build a playground with Imagination Playground blocks. From a German Lederhosen Paper Doll, to Barn Hex Signs to Cordcob and Apple Prints, create a unique work that you can bring home from the festival.

German Lederhosen Paper Doll
October 7 & 8, October 14 & 15
Decorate and assemble a paper doll while learning about traditional German clothing. With some basic tools, paper and markers, kids can give their dolls unique personalities and life, even make them dance along to some polka music!

Corncob and Apple Printmaking
October 14 & 15
Traditional fall foods can be used for more than just your table or kitchen, now you can use them to make art! Learn how to print images and patterns rolling and stamping corncobs and sliced apples.

Autumn Leaf Collages
October 7 & 8
The best part about fall is the leaves: the changing colors, the texture and getting to play in a pile of them! Celebrate all the colors of fall by using leaves to punch out shapes and designs. Kids can arrange their pieces to create a unique and colorful piece of art, perfect to hang on a door or window.

Barn Hex Signs
October 7 & 8, October 14 & 15
Learn how to create these distinct pieces of folk art common among Pennsylvania Germans. Many of these designs go back thousands of years and appear frequently on barns, furniture and clothing. Learn the special symbolism behind these designs and use that knowledge to create your own or follow a traditional template.
