ArtsQuest Announces Inaugural Food Truck Border Brawl Winners
BETHLEHEM, PA—The may be separated by the Delaware River, but today Pennsylvania and New Jersey came together in a common goal – to please the palates of thousands during the inaugural Food Truck Border Brawl.
When all was said and done, The Surf and Turf Truck of Hamilton, N.J., was named “Best Overall Food Truck” by the Border Brawl Judging Panel, while The Empanada Guy of Old Bridge, N.J., was named the “People’s Choice” winner via public vote. Based on the judges’ cumulative scores, Pennsylvania was named the winning state in the event.
The Food Truck Border Brawl featured eight food trucks from the Garden State going head to head against eight mobile eateries from the Keystone State. Attendance at the festival was 6,500, with proceeds from the event going to support the nonprofit ArtsQuest’s free music, arts and education programming for the region, including Musikfest, the largest free music festival in the nation.
“The quality and diversity of the food at the Border Brawl, coupled with the outstanding attendance at the event, really highlights the growing food truck movement in our region,” says ArtsQuest President and CEO Kassie Hilgert. “We thank all of the food trucks, judges and our patrons for helping to make this event a huge success. We’re looking forward to working with the Greater Lehigh Valley Mobile Food Alliance, Philadelphia Mobile Food Association and the New Jersey Food Truck Association to grow this event in the years to come.”
