GOALKEEPERS UNITE!

Lehigh Valley SoccerFest

DOMINATE the 18 will host free youth clinic Monday

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – In addition to offering fans and friends a chance to cheer on their favorite teams of the 2022 FIFA World Cup on the big screen, the Lehigh Valley SoccerFest & Viewing Party at SteelStacks will feature youth skills clinics, on-site merchandise, and special food and drink offerings until Friday, Dec. 2.

ArtsQuest and presenting partner Wind Creek Bethlehem, in partnership with Lehigh Valley United (LVU), Lehigh Valley Health Network, Baby J Productions/Sabroso Video, La Mega Radio, Coca-Cola of the Lehigh Valley, KLYR Rum, Discover Lehigh Valley and WFMZ (Edición En Español) TV69 will host free viewing parties this year in the Musikfest Café presented by Yuengling, Palette and Pour, Frank Banko Alehouse Red Cinema and (weather permitting) Air Products Town Square. The event is also once again supported by a committee of volunteers from LVU, Klunk & Milan, Gregory FCA and Discover Lehigh Valley.

On Monday, Nov. 28 at 12:30 p.m. in partnership with ArtsQuest, Coach Bob Pipech and staff from DOMINATE the 18 Goalkeeper and Soccer Training will host a FREE Goalkeeping Clinic for players ages 7 to 11. Designed for young goalkeepers, from the novice to the experienced, the clinic will teach position basics, including the proper basic catch, low ball save, set position, technical work with the ball at the feet, and an introduction to positioning in the net (angles and angle arc). Fun games will be incorporated in the second half of the session to promote retention and skill development. Goalkeepers will also be shown drills that they can do at home to promote repetition, improve dexterity and coordination, and enhance essential basics of being a goalkeeper. Click here to register.

There are still limited spaces available for a Sunday, Nov. 27 youth clinic for children with disabilities, aged 4-17. Lead by Greg Ramos of Lehigh Valley United, he and the LVU players will teach several different drills and games. Dribbling, shooting, passing and other techniques will be covered as children go station to station. Parents will be welcome to take photos and even participate. The session will be held in the Musikfest Café at 12:30 p.m. for children with disabilities aged 4-17. Advanced registration is required and available here for the 12:30 p.m. session.
