In this 8-week class, improvisers will participate in a variety of exercises designed to explore the endless possibilities of longform improvisation. The ultimate goal is the creation of a new form/structure that will be performed at SteelStacks at the end of the class. Space and time will be bent. Genres will be pushed to the limit. The weird will be explored and embraced.

Class sessions will be active, with lots of play time and trial-and-error for both performers and instructor alike. This lab is not recommended for those interested in personal notes, as our focus will be to create a new show more than working on personal improv skill-building. We'll do that too, but it's not the primary objective. Oh yeah, it's going to be really fun, too!

Pre-requisite for Improv 301: Students are expected to have completed ArtsQuest's Improv 201 before beginning this class. If you have not taken Improv 201 with ArtsQuest but have other experience (Upright Citizen's Brigade, Philly Improv Theater, etc) and want to enroll in 301, please contact Ryan Hill at

If you enroll in 301 without having completed 201 or received approval to enroll, you may be removed from the class at the discretion of the instructor and/or administration.

If you’d like to take this class but do not have the means, we encourage you to apply for an ArtsQuest Comedy Class Scholarship.

Students must be 18 or older by the first day of class. Instructor may change based on availability.
