The Levitt Foundation is thrilled to present The War and Treaty as the headlining artist for the 2024 Levitt National Tour. Comprising wife and husband Tanya Trotter and Michael Trotter Jr., the critically acclaimed duo has emerged as one of the most electrifying new acts in American music. Hailing from Nashville, their signature sound melds blues, gospel, soul, bluegrass, and country for a lionhearted sonic blend, both roaring with passion and tender to the touch. Since 2014, the pairing has dazzled audiences in the U.S. and internationally on stages in Europe and Australia, earning recognition by the Country Music Hall of Fame, the Grand Ole Opry, and Folk Alliance International, along with two recent GRAMMY nominations for Best New Artist and Best American Roots song (for their 2023 song “Blank Page”). With a name that pays homage to the dichotomy between hard times and healing—partially inspired by army veteran Michael Trotter, Jr.’s tour of duty in Iraq—The War and Treaty crafts warmhearted roots music that shares narratives of love, loss, commitment, and conflict. From collaborating in the studio with country stars like Zach Bryan, Wilder Woods, and Brothers Osborne to opening for living legends and celebrated artists like Al Green, Brandi Carlile, Chris Stapleton, John Legend, and Van Morrison, The War and Treaty has captivated audiences across the globe.
