The mission of The Unknown Planet Film Society is to screen a wide range of bold, dynamic films rarely seen at cinemas.
The Unknown Planet Film Society aims to bring together a community of film enthusiasts keen on expanding their cinematic horizons. Curated by ArtsQuest Cinema Committee member Adrianna Gober and rotating special guest curators, this series maintains the element of surprise by revealing the film only when it starts playing on screen. The choices are always boundary pushing works that would be difficult to fit into day-to-day programming. They want to bring this experience to audiences to encourage curiosity and exploration into the breadth of what cinema has to offer.
Subscribers will pay a flat fee of $75, which will give them access to 12 Unknown Planet screenings. Screenings will occur once a month, over a year. That works out to a value of $6.25 per screening.
Subscribers will also not know what title is being screened beforehand, but we will release numerous hints leading up to the event.
The program will include additional content to keep screenings fresh: including moderated talkbacks, live Q&As, and pre-recorded interviews. This is not only a chance to see films that are rarely screened in the Lehigh Valley, but also to join a community of curious filmgoers who share their passion for the theatrical experience.

Dan Santelli
Dan Santelli (he/him) is a Philadelphia-based arts administrator, film programmer, and writer. His background includes interning at the Bryn Mawr Film Institute, serving as Repertory Film Programmer for the now-defunct Elks Theatre (Middletown, PA), and managing the film program at Civic Theatre of Allentown. He was also a key figure at the venerated video rental store, Viva Video (Ardmore, PA), and recently graduated with an MS in Arts Administration from Drexel University. He has seen over 8,000 movies and aims to foster cinephile communities by facilitating the audience’s connection with cinema in all its sundry forms — from the populist and accessible to the recondite and esoteric. He loves cats.
