WHO WE ARE
We started as friends getting together to have a couple of hours of fun with our musical instruments. Living in Philadelphia PA but we come from Puerto Rican decent. The idea of forming Combo Melaza came from me Edgar Castro (director ) living in Philadelphia but coming from a culture of salsa which is all that i was raised on Since I was a kid. As years past I developed the passion for this wonderful music called salsa .As I got older i developed a passion and I became a musician along with some close friends .All the pieces started to fall in place. As I persued the music we were able to find all the tools needed to make a band I decided to Make El Combo Melaza in 2011.
OUR MISSION
Our mission is to Preserve the best music available to the best of our abilities which we believe has been Handed down to us from our Ancestors , Family and Tradition . Our Main goal is to keep this wonderful music called salsa alive. Our whole concept is to break the barrier between the past and present and attract the new generation of salseros to this genre. We are a group of 12 to 14 Men that have a common passion for SALSA music. Two of our singers are seasoned professionals that share their experience with our young singer and the rest of the band. We are young and hungry and love what we do. `Be Responsible guys’
OUR DRIVE
Performing in front of people and watching them sing and dance to our wonderful melody. That brings out the best of our talent, not fortune, nor fame, but the joy of music. All of our singers have recorded original songs in the last 3 years and we are working on recording a full album this year.
