Tours will leave from National Museum of Industrial History, 602 E. Second Street, Bethlehem.
A guided bus tour of the rarely-visited eastern end of the Bethlehem Steel plant. This tour, led by an ex-Bethlehem steelworker, guides tourists through the now redeveloped eastern end of Bethlehem Steel’s flagship mill. The guide will discuss Bethlehem Steel divisions including Saucon, East Lehigh Division, the Coke Works, the basic oxygen furnace, the Open Hearths, Lehigh Heavy Forge, the coal field and the slag dump. The guide will also explain the history of the rich, multicultural neighborhood of the Heights which was razed to make way for the basic oxygen furnace.
