Hop on the Holiday Bus to Enjoy Fall and Winter Festivities Happening throughout Bethlehem

The holidays just got merrier with leaving the driving to us as you celebrate in the Christmas City.

Lehigh Valley, Bethlehem, PA, September 30, 2024 – Back by popular demand, ArtsQuest is pleased to announce that thanks to a multilevel and citywide partnership with LANTA, the Bethlehem Parking Authority, the City of Bethlehem, the Greater Lehigh Valley Chamber of Commerce, Historic Bethlehem Museum and Sites and the SouthSide Arts District, the NEW LANTA bus service that provided transportation during Musikfest, will again be offering the same Blue and Green Lines for fall and holiday events taking place on both the North and South-Sides of Bethlehem.

Bus service will be offered throughout these events:

• Oktoberfest – Weekends of Oct. 4-6 and October 11-13
• Harvest Fest – Saturday, Oct. 12
• Christkindlmarkt – Nov. 15-17, Nov. 22-24, Nov. 29-Dec. 1, Dec. 5-8, Dec. 12-15, Dec. 19-22
• All Holiday Events on Historic Main Street

 “With approximately 7,700 riders using the LANTA bus lines at Musikfest, it was a unanimous decision to bring this service back for future events,” commented AJ Jordan, Director of Planning & Scheduling, LANTA. “And, all of LANTA’s buses are ADA Accessible, making it much more convenient for everyone to get around the city.”

William Reynolds; Kassie Hilgert, ArtsQuest President and CEO; Tammy Wendling, Senior Vice President of Bethlehem Initiatives for the Greater Lehigh Valley Chamber of Commerce; Steve Fernstrom, Executive Director Bethlehem Parking Authority; and LoriAnn Wukitsch, President & CEO, Historic Bethlehem Museums & Sites are thrilled to bring this new bus service back for Bethlehem’s fall fun and holiday festivities – allowing for more people to visit the Christmas City with increased accessibility, helping to boost the local economy, making it safer for pedestrians with decreased single-vehicle traffic and taking in the beauty of Bethlehem throughout the holiday season. 

Once again, the Blue Line from Trexlertown to Easton and the Green Line from Whitehall to the Casino, will not only make your ride to and from events taking place during the fall and winter holiday stress-free, they will also allow for stops throughout both sides of the city for multiple festival fun. Both Blue and Green lines will run every 15 minutes on weekdays and Saturdays and every 30 minutes on Sundays. You can find more information, including fares, stops and more on LANTAbus.com.

Whether you leave the car at home, park in an off-satellite lot or one of the convenient garages around the city and take a shuttle from there, or if you’re feet just need a rest and you’re looking for an easier way to get around both the North and South-Sides, you can deck the halls and be merry with ease during the hustle and bustle of the holiday season.

Re-Introducing the Frank Banko Alehouse Cinemas

Now with Projection in 4K!

Bethlehem, Lehigh Valley, PA., September 24, 2024 – ArtsQuest is excited to re-introduce the Frank Banko Alehouse Cinemas on Thursday, October 3 after an upgrade in picture quality, lighting and screening equipment that was completed inside the theaters.

“The Frank Banko Alehouse Cinemas have made their mark over the past 13 years as the Lehigh Valley’s premiere independent cinema,” said Ryan Hill, ArtsQuest Sr. Director of Programming. “We’re excited to take our popular retro screenings to the next level while also continuing to show the best in new cinema in an immersive experience like none other in the region.”

Experiencing a film in 4K is like stepping into a new dimension of clarity and detail. With four times the resolution of standard HD, 4K delivers stunningly sharp images and vibrant colors that make every scene come to life with remarkable realism. The enhanced picture quality reveals intricate details and textures that might be missed in lower resolutions, creating an immersive viewing experience that draws you deeper into the story. Whether it’s the fine textures of a character’s costume or the breathtaking beauty of a landscape, 4K transforms your film-watching into a vivid, high-definition spectacle.

The Frank Banko Alehouse Cinemas are a two-screen independent cinema located on the first floor of the ArtsQuest Center at SteelStacks. The Red Cinema accommodates 200 guests, while the Blue Cinema accommodates 100 guests. Tickets are priced at $11. ArtsQuest Members, senior citizens and those ages 25 and under can purchase discounted tickets (IN-PERSON only). Discounted tickets are normally priced at $8.50 at all showtimes and ArtsQuest Members can enjoy a movie for $7.50 per ticket. (Prices subject to change). Visit steelstacks.org for more information.

The Palette & Pour kitchen will be open Thursday through Saturday nights starting at 6 p.m. for dinner service. Food from Palette & Pour can be brought into the cinema, along with your favorite cocktail or beverage (Movie-inspired drinks will be available, too). Thursdays are Quesadilla night and Fridays are Pierogi night. Get $1 off both your quesadillas on Thursdays and pierogis on Fridays!

We’ll be kicking off the re-introduction of the cinemas with 4K showings of Joker: Folie à Deux and Purple Rain (40th Anniversary).

Spooktacular ArtsQuest Events this Fall Season

Bethlehem, Lehigh Valley, PA., September 11, 2024 – Fall is upon us and ArtsQuest has so much autumnal fun in store. Between improvised comedy shows, Selene Rose’s burlesque show, appearances by well-known names in comedy, screenings of some of your favorite Halloween classics and fall-themed workshops and classes at the Banana Factory, this season at the ‘Stacks is one you don’t want to miss out on!

COMEDY AND GHOULISH FUN:

10/18 @ 8 p.m. – Improvised Murder Mystery

Are you obsessed with true crime? What better way to celebrate this unique obsession than with Improvised Murder Mystery, an hour of improvised comedy, where we take real premises from these popular true crime shows, replace a few words with suggestions from the audience and improvise new episodes and titles, based off these suggestions.

This show will take place at the Visitor Center at SteelStacks and contains adult language and/or situations. Anyone coming in between the ages of 13 and 17 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. No child 12 or under will be admitted. Tickets are $13 for the general public and $11.50 for ArtsQuest members.

10/19 @ 7:30 p.m. – Whatever Fate Decides

Whatever Fate Decides is an event at the intersection of theatre and the Tarot. Together we use the power of performance to delve deeper into the messages revealed during a special Tarot reading for an invited guest. As we explore, the show grants our invited guest both insight into their past and present as well as the mystical power to change their future in front of the audience. Using performances by the cast which are influenced by the Tarot reading itself, we discover our guest’s personal truths and our shared humanity.

Join us at the Visitor Center at SteelStacks for a reading like no other! Anyone coming in between the ages of 13 and 17 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. No child 12 or under will be admitted. Tickets are $16 for the general public or $14.50 for ArtsQuest members.

10/25 @ 8 p.m. – Zombie Ball

Get ready for a night of frightful fun – if you dare! On Friday, October 25, the Musikfest Café will host the ultimate undead celebration – the annual SteelStacks Zombie Ball. Dance your heart out as DJ AJ Stack spins the most hauntingly vibrant beats, be mesmerized by Shannon Sexton’s death-defying aerial feats, and delve into your darkest future with Auset Gypsy’s eye-opening tarot readings. Sip on our chilling drink specials served in actual blood bags and indulge in delectable bites designed to fuel your dance moves and keep the fun going all night long. These delicious treats will satisfy even the most ravenous of appetites, no matter what creature you come as. Show off your creativity in our costume contest too, where cash prizes await the most original individual and couple – so come dressed to impress (or scare)! Tickets are $15.

Slashers & Flashers is back at the Visitor Center at SteelStacks for their fourth annual burlesque bash! The traveling burlesque show based in Philadelphia has been terrorizing the stages with sexy horror bases burlesque since 2019. Selene Rose has been promoted from Assistant to the Regional Monster to Assistant Regional Monster and is ready to show off her menagerie of tricks and treats. Last year we brought you famous slashers; this year we’ll try not to be as scary – no promises.

Tickets are $20 for the general public or $18 for ArtsQuest members. Ticket prices increase to $25 for the general public or $22.50 for ArtsQuest members the week of.

Homenaje a Nuestros Socorristas

Bethlehem, Lehigh Valley, PA., 11 de septiembre de 2024 – ArtsQuest, en asociación con Embassy Bank, organizará un evento del Día del Patriota el sábado 14 de septiembre. Únase a nosotros en el ArtsQuest Center en SteelStacks para honrar a las innumerables personas de Lehigh Valley que se exponen al peligro todos los días. En honor a nuestros socorristas, la ceremonia incluirá la presentación del premio 2024 ArtsQuest Patriot Day Award [Premio de 2024 al Patriota de ArtsQuest] otorgado al oficial Ra’Von Burton, Director del Servicio Médico de Emergencias (EMS) de la ciudad de Bethlehem. Este graduado de la Moravian University se interesó en convertirse en oficial cuando era niño, cuando la policía de Allentown le rescató de una inundación después de que se desbordara el Jordan Creek en Allentown. Honoring Our First Responders

Bethlehem, Lehigh Valley, PA., September 11, 2024 – ArtsQuest, in partnership with Embassy Bank, will host a Patriot Day event on Saturday, September 14.  Join us at the ArtsQuest Center at SteelStacks as we honor the countless individuals in the Lehigh Valley who put themselves in harm’s way every day. This event recognizes and celebrates our nation’s first responders, law enforcement agencies, firefighters, military and emergency medical personnel. Highlighting the evening is our Hometown Heroes banner display, showcasing the amazing men and women who make a difference in our community day-in and day-out.

Community members were encouraged to submit photos of family members, neighbors and friends who have served or are serving their communities as first responders between July 1 and July 31 for the Hometown Heros banner. Photos submitted in previous years will also be displayed.

The presentation of ArtsQuest’s First Responder Valor Award will take place at 7:15 p.m. at the Levitt Pavilion SteelStacks. Honoring our first responders, the ceremony will include the presentation of the 2024 ArtsQuest Patriot Day Award to Officer Ra’Von Burton, Director of Bethlehem City EMS. This Moravian University graduate gained interest in becoming an officer as a child when Allentown Police helped rescue him from a flood after Jordan Creek in Allentown had overflowed. He has become a huge part of the Bethlehem Police Department’s community outreach programs which include visiting various schools in the area. In 2021, Burton joined the K9 unit where he became partners with Bean, a German Shorthaired Pointer, where they specialized in explosive detection, tracking lost individuals and community engagement. After being a part of the BPD for six years, Officer Burton has plans to continue growing the relationship between police and the community with the hopes of one day becoming Chief of Police.

Following the ceremony, The Aardvarks will take the stage at 7:30 p.m. Performing over ten years, the Aardvarks have become the premier rock band of the Lehigh Valley, mixing time periods and styles of covers and original music into their non-stop, high-energy sets.

Oktoberfest presented by Lehigh Valley International Airport (ABE) takes place during the weekends of Oct. 4-6 & 11-13!

Bethlehem, Lehigh Valley, PA., September 10, 2024 – ArtsQuest is excited to announce the 14^th annual Oktoberfest, presented by Lehigh Valley International Airport (ABE). The German-inspired festival kicks off on Friday October 4 and continues through Sunday, October 6.  The second weekend is set to take place from Friday, October 11 through Sunday, October 13. This free festival features brews, food, live music, local artisans and fan favorites, such as Brewers’ Village presented by The Lehigh Valley Brewers Guild and the Oktoberfest Bratwurst Toss. Read on to learn about ALL of the festive fun happening throughout the festival.

ACTIVITIES:

Oktoberfest Human Foosball Tournament

Join us for the FIRST EVER Oktoberfest Human Foosball Tournament on Friday, October 4 at 6 p.m. Teams of six will compete in this life size rec room game for the chance to win two $50 ArtsQuest gift cards. Teams will consist of one goalie, two defensive and three offensive players. All players will have to keep their hand on a pool noodle that will be able to slide left and right on a rope tied across our Oktoberfest Arena fencing.

Games will last 10 minutes. The bracket is double elimination so each team will play at least two games.

Eight team capacity, so register NOW before space fills up!

The Pennsylvania State Steinholding Championship

ArtsQuest is partnering with the US Steinholding Association to once again host the Pennsylvania State Steinholding Championships presented by Samuel Adams! The State Championship Qualifier Competition will take place on Saturday, October 5 at 6 p.m. Register for the competition here. It’s free to participate and the participants with the best times will advance to the finals.

Oktoberfest Bratwurst Toss

The return of the Oktoberfest Bratwurst Toss will be on Sunday, October 6 at 5 p.m. The toss is now with eco-friendly, reusable, not at all edible, synthetic Bratwursts!

Take turns tossing your synthetic bratwurst between you and a partner, increasing your distance from one another with each throw. Partners will have to catch the brat in an ArtsQuest provided bun. We will be conducting this competition in heats, so if you win the first round, be prepared to compete again in the final round. Register your team here!

The winning duo will win two $50 ArtsQuest gift cards.

Oktoberfest Kong Pong Tournament

On Friday, October 11, The Oktoberfest Kong Pong Tournament sponsored by Yuengling will kick off at 7 p.m. Grab a partner and play a fan-favorite party game! There will be 55-gallon cups, two dodgeballs and a $100 ArtsQuest gift card for the pair that wins the tournament along with Yuengling Flight Kanga coolers and hats. Registration is $8 for ArtsQuest Members and $10 for the general public. You can register here or on the day of the event! Make sure you register at least 15 minutes before the event starts and only one person from your duo needs to register!

Oktoberfest Hot Glass Experience

Work one on one with a hot glass instructor to create your own piece of art from molten glass. Ages 6 and up, no experience necessary. Pieces need 48 hours to cool, and participants need to return to the festival to pick up their work or to have it shipped directly, pay a shipping charge.

20-minute time slots are available every day of Oktoberfest starting at 5 p.m. on Fridays and noon Saturdays and Sundays. Please arrive 10 minutes before your time slot.

Yuengling Oktoberfest 5k

The annual race for beer is on! The Yuengling Oktoberfest 5k, in partnership with Run Lehigh Valley, returns for the 10^th year on Sunday, October 6. Pre-registration is required.  

Wiener Dog Races

Purebreds, Dachshund mixes and wiener dogs at heart under 35 lbs. will race in a double elimination bracket until a 3^rd, 2^nd and 1^st place pup emerge victorious. Multiple entries are allowed, but there is no guarantee that your dogs will not race against each other. Races are held both weekends.

Wiener Dog Parades

The festival will host a parade every Saturday and Sunday. Pups donning their favorite costume or simply trotting as they are, could be elected President of Chancellor of the parade. There will be prizes and there will be adorableness. The parade is free to participate in, and no pre-registration is required.

Oktoberfest Brewers’ Village

In its 8^th year, Oktoberfest Brewers’ Village presented by The Lehigh Valley Brewers Guild will be on Sunday, October 13 in the Musikfest Café. This event offers over 30 brews, all award-winning craft breweries. All attendees will receive a commemorative sampling mug and have the opportunity to meet the breweries’ staff and brewers. From German-style marzens to autumn-inspired pumpkin ales, you can purchase your tickets here!

Taste of Austria

ArtsQuest has partnered with Levy Restaurants and Easton-based Imported Enrichment to put together a delightful culinary experience around liquor and wine imported directly from Austria! On October 5 at 5 p.m. in the Fowler Blast Furnace Room, you will be able to enjoy this four-course cuisine and drinks. This is a 21+ event. Tickets are $84 and are available online!

Yuengling Beer Dinner

ArtsQuest, Levy Restaurants and D.G. Yuengling & Sons have partnered to present a scrumptious beer dinner on October 12 at 5 p.m. in the Fowler Blast Furnace Room in the ArtsQuest Center! This is a 21+ event. We have four courses paired with 6 oz. pours of four different Yuengling beers. A Yuengling brewer will be talking about the brewing process and each beer as we go through the dinner. And each patron will get a special Yuengling pint glass!

Torneo de Futbolín Humano en el Oktoberfest

Únase a nosotros para el PRIMER Torneo de Futbolín Humano del Oktoberfest el viernes 4 de octubre a las 6 p. m. Los equipos de seis personas competirán en este entretenimiento de sala de juegos a tamaño real para tener la oportunidad de ganar dos tarjetas de regalo ArtsQuest de $50. Los equipos estarán formados por un portero, dos jugadores defensivos y tres ofensivos. Experiencia con Vidrio Caliente en el Oktoberfest

Trabaje de la mano de un instructor de vidrio caliente para crear su propia obra de arte a partir de vidrio fundido. Es para mayores de 6 años edad, y no se necesita tener experiencia. Las piezas necesitan 48 horas para enfriarse y los participantes deben regresar al festival para recoger su obra o solicitar su envío directamente, abonando un cargo de envío.

SteelStacks Smackdown Regresa por Tercer Año Consecutivo

Bethlehem, Lehigh Valley, PA., 4 de septiembre de 2024 – ArtsQuest se complace en anunciar el regreso de SteelStacks Smackdown con Lehigh Valley Apparel Creations (LVAC) el sábado, 5 de octubre.

Después de haber presentado muchas exhibiciones de lucha libre en toda la región de Lehigh Valley, LVAC ha trabajado incansablemente para crear su espectáculo en vivo más grande hasta el momento con los mejores talentos de la lucha libre independiente y la televisión. El primer SteelStacks Smackdown superó todas las expectativas cuando casi 1,000 fanáticos de la lucha libre llenaron el Musikfest Café en 2022. En 2023, SteelStacks Smackdown II consolidó su estatus en Lehigh Valley con otro espectáculo lleno de energía y que complació al público.
