As part of the presentation, ArtsQuest will present its 2020 First Responder Valor Award to Bethlehem’s Rev. Herbert G. Gates III.

Gates has lived a life of servitude, starting with his service in the U.S. Army from 1966-’68, with 6.5 months spent in South Vietnam. Gates served in churches in the West Pennsylvania Conference for more than 30 years. He has also led bible studies and taught Sunday School in several churches, and now holds regular support groups at Bethany U.M.C. Since moving to Bethlehem in 2007, he has served as an Associate Chaplain and a Pulpit Supply for six years in regional Evangelical Lutheran Churches. He currently serves as Lehigh Valley Health Network’s Associate Chaplain, where he brings comfort and support to patients and their families in dire times.

Gates has volunteered at ArtsQuest for more than a decade as an ArtsQuest Ambassador, Musikfest Site Supervisor, Christkindlmarkt Site Supervisor and ticket-taker at the Frank Banko Alehouse Cinemas. In recognition of his efforts to minister patients, their families and staff, as well as his dedication to our community, ArtsQuest President and CEO Kassie Hilgert and Bethlehem City Council member J. William Reynolds will present Gates with a glass sculpture hand-blown by the artists at the ArtsQuest Glass Studio at the Banana Factory.

ArtsQuest is also honoring regional first responders for their courage and sacrifice for our community by displaying “Our Hometown Heroes” banners on the fence lining 1st Street and Founders Way, as well as via an online gallery. Singer and guitarist Seth Witcher will present the National Anthem.

New Outdoor Comedy Series at SteelStacks to Feature Regional Comedians

Mary Radzinski, David James, Glen Tickle & Tyler Rothrock Highlight Performances Beginning Sept. 4

BETHLEHEM, PA – ArtsQuest is presenting a new, live comedy series highlighting dynamic regional comedians like Mary Radzinski, David James and Tyler Rothrock starting Sept. 4 at PNC Plaza at SteelStacks.

Shows begin at 8 p.m. and feature three comedians each night. Tickets are $12 per person, $10 for students and seniors, and $9.50 for ArtsQuest Members; they go on sale Aug. 28, noon, at www.steelstacks.org. Only groups in the same party will be seated together, with appropriate social distancing from other groups at the event. There will be limited dining options available, with mobile bar add-ons for purchase as well.

Comedy at the PNC Plaza dates are Sept. 4, 5, 11, 12, 18 and 19. Confirmed performers so far are below, and additional performers will be announced as they are confirmed:

Tyler Rothrock – Friday, Sept. 4
This Nazareth-based comedian recorded his debut album, “Tyler of Nazareth,” at the ArtsQuest Center. He has opened for a number of national comedians such as Michael Che, Dave Attell, Roy Wood Jr., Kyle Kinane and more. He is also one of the co-founders of the Lehigh Valley with Love ComedyPlatz at Musikfest and can be heard hosting both the “Clicking and Screaming” and “Tee’d Up” podcasts.

David James – Saturday, Sept. 5
Philadelphia’s David James slays the city night after night, with one of his biggest achievements being beating all of his fellow comedians at the Helium Comedy Club’s first-annual “Philly’s Phunniest” Competition. Since then, he has performed at countless colleges, bars, private shows and clubs. His unique observational humor that walks the line leaves audiences intrigued, confused, laughing and wishing for more.

Glen Tickle – Friday, Sept. 18
Glen Tickle was once stopped in a hallway by a woman who said, “I know you. You’re that dad comic,” and that sums him up pretty well. He has been on SiriusXM, Amazon Prime, CoziTV, the internet (heard of it?) and his debut album charted on Billboard. His first comedy special, “Good Grief,” is now streaming on Amazon Prime. Tickle is the father of two kids, ages 7 and 1. They have a real C3PO and R2D2 dynamic, so that makes him Chewbacca, we think?

Mary Radzinski – Saturday, Sept. 19
This Philadelphia-based comedian is a regular feature at numerous comedy clubs including Helium and Goodnights, and she has opened for a number of national comedians such as Dave Attell, Jim Norton, Sarah Colonna, Rosie O’Donnell and more. Radzinski can also be seen on TruTV’s new series, “Greatest Ever,” and has been recognized countless times, including as a semi-finalist in the 2017 Laughing Skull Comedy Festival and a finalist in the 2015 Boston Comedy Festival. She has also been named Best Comedian in Philly by Philadelphia Magazine.

For the safety of all patrons and staff, mask wearing, social distancing and all CDC, state and city health and safety rules and regulations will apply at all Comedy at the PNC Plaza performances. For more information, visit www.steelstacks.org.

Guidelines and Menu

LATICE

LaTice was born and raised in South Jersey and has made it a part of her comical identity. She has been in the game since early 2009 and has performed with some top names in comedy, including Bob Saget, Alonzo Bodden, and John Witherspoon. She is known for her easy, conversational style which brings audiences right into her world. Interracial marriage, being a mom, and the humourous everyday encounters of being a black woman in a white community are just a few topics to scratch the surface.

LaTice has proved that she can wear many hats, appearing on ABC’s The View for their “Hilarious Housewives” skit, the Dr. Oz show, the Betheny Show, the Harry Show, Comedy Time TV, and the Laffin’ Matterz TV show in NYC. She has also competed twice in the World Series of Comedy showcase as a Top 101 Comedian in the nation, was accepted into the Black Comedy Festival and Women In Comedy Festival, and has been featured in the Comics Rock Convention in L.A. On top of it all, she’ll kick off comedy at SteelStacks this Saturday night. Is there anything she can’t do?

Check out “Hilarious Housewives” with LaTice on The View!

From hosting bi-monthly open mic nights at Stout Laughs in Bethlehem to running LV Standup Women and their all-female comedy show, The Blood Moon Festival, she covers every base. Hamadani is also set to perform at the Scranton Fringefest in October and is ready to take on the rest of 2020!

Glen tickles everyone’s fancy. Too far? Come on, that’s comedy gold! Anyway, Glen Tickle is the dad comedian we all need in our lives, and he even equates his own two kiddos to C3PO and R2D2. And if you need further convincing, he’s been featured on SiriusXM, Amazon Prime, CoziTV, and his debut album (Yes, Really) charted on Billboard.
