Written by Amanda Seemayer, Marketing/Social Media Intern

At ArtsQuest, our intern program is designed to help college and graduate students gain real-world skills, in addition to their degree program. This spring semester, we have a plethora of interns working with us who we’d love to introduce to you!

Cassidy Wampole, Public Relations Intern

Q: What made you apply to ArtsQuest?

A:  I chose ArtsQuest because ever since I was a teenager, ArtsQuest was always there without me knowing what it was. I went to a multitude of events with family and friends, and when I got to college, I realized who was creating all these events for everyone around the community. When researching internships, I saw an opportunity to be involved with something I have had connection to since I was 15. ArtsQuest has many different events and people which is one of my favorite things about this organization; there is always room to learn new things and meet new people.

Q: What is your major?

A: I am a double major in Professional Writing and English.

Q: What school do you go to?

A: I go to Kutztown University.

Q: What is your year?

I am a senior in my last semester (sad)!

What is your favorite television show?

My favorite show is Parks and Recreation – I even have a tattoo of it!

Rianna Aucker, Public Relations Intern

Q: What made you apply to ArtsQuest?

A: I applied to ArtsQuest because of how close it is, and to experience interning at a creative and fun organization.

Q: What is your major?

A: Public Relations!

Q: What school do you go to?

A: Kutztown University of Pennsylvania

Q: What is your favorite concert you’ve been to?

A: Trinity of Terror Tour!

Q: What is your favorite thing about ArtsQuest?

A: I’ve always enjoyed going to MusikFest and it’s my favorite because I like to explore the historic area of Bethlehem, eat/drink, and create long-lasting memories with my parents at Musikfest.

Amanda Seemayer, Marketing/Social Media Intern

Q: What made you apply to ArtsQuest?

A: I found myself drawn to an organization whose mission is to bring art, music, movies, and more to the community!

Q: What school do you go to?

I’m a Public Relations grad student at Quinnipiac University. Since Quinnipiac is based in Connecticut, I’m able to do that program online! I did my undergrad degree at DeSales University, where I was a TV/Film Production major.

Q: What is your favorite art medium?

A: Painting, since I like to work with acrylics myself! Second choice has to be filmmaking.

Q: If you could live anywhere in the world, where would it be?

A: It’s a toss-up between Ireland and the Outer Banks in North Carolina! Yes, I know they’re definitely two different types of destinations. But I’ve been to both, and love them equally!

Q: What is your favorite television show?

A: Hmmm… good question. I will have to go with Frasier. It’s one of the wittiest shows I’ve seen!

Rebecca Clark, Arts Administration & Education Intern

Q: What made you apply to ArtsQuest?

A: I have always had a keen interest in making the arts more accessible and working on different programs that give students of all ages the opportunity to engage with the arts. I love what ArtsQuest has been doing, and wanted to be a part of it.

Q: What is your major?

A: I go to Muhlenberg College, where I am a double major in History and Art History, with a minor in Studio Art. I am also a part of a Secondary Education Certificate program.

Q: What is your favorite thing to do outside of school/work?

A: My favorite thing to do outside of school or work is to find a new coffee shop in the Lehigh Valley and try out a new caffeinated beverage!

Q: What is your favorite art medium?

Q: My favorite art medium would have to be photography. I love the excitement of getting the perfect shot and spending time editing the images. I have had experience with both digital and analog photography and love both of them.

Q: What is the best college class you’ve had so far?

A: The best college course I have taken would have to be a class called Gender and Art, where we ask the question, “What is gender?” and examine artworks to see how gender has influenced them. It was a fascinating class with interesting discussions. We looked at artworks that I have never even heard of, but have now come to know and love.

Alex Fitzgerald, Sponsorship Intern

Q: What made you apply to ArtsQuest?

A: I wanted to intern at ArtsQuest because of their community driven purpose and exciting events.

A: When I found the cinema programming internship at ArtsQuest, I knew I wanted to apply because I wanted an internship in film. I was excited by the description of the position. I previously worked for a non-profit organization, so when I found out about this internship, I knew I wanted to continue in organizations that provide access to education, culture, and arts.

Q: Why did you decide on your major?

A: I decided on my major – Media Studies and Production – because growing up watching films with my parents and immersing myself in storytelling, I discovered I could turn my passions into a career.

Q: What is your favorite thing to do outside of school/work?

A: Watch movies, read, and spend time with my family.

Q: What is your favorite television show (currently running or not)?

A: “Gilmore Girls”. It is a show that I consistently re-watch and never gets old!

Q: What is the best college class you’ve had so far?

A: Creative Scriptwriting at Temple University. I had previously taken a screenwriting class at Bucks County Community College, so when I transferred to Temple, I knew I wanted to take a similar formatted class. I love storytelling, and this class allowed me to write short screenplays!

ArtsQuest Announces Return of ONE EARTH REGGAEFEST

This free festival, presented by Promise Neighborhoods of the Lehigh Valley, will be held outdoors at SteelStacks on Saturday, July 1, 2023

BETHLEHEM, Pa., March 20, 2023— ArtsQuest is proud to announce the second annual One Earth ReggaeFest, a free festival celebrating reggae music on Saturday, July 1. One Earth ReggaeFest, presented by Promise Neighborhoods of the Lehigh Valley, is an all-ages event celebrating a fusion of Cali reggae, classic reggae, hip hop and funk music with live performances from both nationally touring and local bands.

“We are excited to once again host this amazing celebration of culture this summer,” Chief Programming Officer Patrick Brogan said. “Reggae is more than a genre of music, it’s an energy and vibe that we are excited to share throughout our community. We’re also grateful to once again partner with Movement Moves Media along with our co-sponsors and media partner.”

Mighty Mystic, headlining the festival, is considered one of the leaders in the U.S. Reggae scene and labeled by many as one of the more prolific artists to develop outside of Jamaica. Mighty Mystic has turned himself into one of the more sought after U.S. based Reggae artists on today’s scene. His brand of “HARD ROOTS” with his high energy stage performance has been a magnet for the young enthusiastic reggae fan base with his Jamaican roots, while adding elements of Hip Hop & Rock, giving Mystic a more unique sound. He has released three albums which all debuted in the top 10 on iTunes and Billboard reggae charts, “Wake up the World”, “Concrete World” and “The Art of Balance.”

Guests can also enjoy performances from Red Fox, Sun-Dried Vibes, Space Kamp, Cultivated Mind, Trouble City All-Stars, iRon Lion, Jah People, DJ Menace, LNJ Sessions, RootSetters and Lunch Trucks.

“One Earth Festival is extremely close to our hearts, we’re extremely thankful that ArtsQuest believed in and gave it a chance,” commented members of Space Kamp. “The energy last year was amazing. We look forward to this year and watching it grow every year moving forward. The reggae rock community is extremely tight knit and it is wonderful to have a home in the Lehigh Valley for this amazing community to come together.”

Presenting Sponsor of the event is Promise Neighborhoods of the Lehigh Valley, along with co-sponsor Sweetwater Brewing Company and media partner WDIY/88.1.

Bring the whole family to this free day-long festival featuring eclectic vendors, authentic Jamaican food and fun under the sun. Tickets aren’t needed, but good vibes will be collected at the gate! The hours will be 12 p.m. to midnight. Visit steelstacks.org for more information.

Want to be part of the festival? Vendor spots are still available. Click here or contact vendors@artsquest.org to apply. This event is produced by ArtsQuest and Movement Moves Media as part of the Levitt Pavilion SteelStacks free concert series, presented by Lehigh Valley Health Network.
