9:00pm – DJ Discreet

I grew up in Bethlehem and had all styles of great music available to me from my older sister. One of my favorite hobbies was finding new music I didn’t know existed by digging and searching all angles. Once I saw an old friend of mine DJing in high school, I knew I needed to find a way to become a DJ. I loved everything about it and new how endless the possibilities could be for me. I’ve been a DJ for 17 years and love it! I think there is good music in almost every genre and love the hunt to find it. I can play many styles of music to fit many occasions and enjoy finding what works for the crowd in front of me but still adding my personal touch to the mix/blend.

I love introducing people to new music they haven’t heard before or might not have heard if it wasn’t for me. I’ve played with different musicians live to bring a whole new element to whatever sound we’re going for. DJing to me is hearing something I like and putting a twist on it to make it better.

Queering Care

What does care look like within the queer community? What does it mean to care for someone, something, or yourself?

QUEERING CARE invites artists to explore how queer communities have, and continue to, expand, reframe, and redefine what it means to care for one another – as a form of affection, strategy for survival, and beyond. In the face of anti-LGBTQ oppression, collective care is a tool for protection and sustenance as government and institutions neglect queer communities. From the AIDS epidemic in the 1980s to the 1990s, to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, LGBTQ people are impacted disproportionately by catastrophes, with those holding multiple marginalized identities including race, gender, class, and ability facing exacerbated effects by unjust systems. Under these contexts, care within the community is a radical act of solidarity and a strategy for survival and resistance against oppression. By “queering” ideas of care and community, we interrogate our individual roles in our circles, how we approach our relationships with one another, and confront the failures of institutions to effectively care for their people. How do you care within your community, and how has the community cared for you?

Free Films Coming Up in the LGBTQ+ Film Series:

Representation matters. In the ongoing fight for LGBTQ+ justice, visibility is a powerful tool for shattering stigmas, changing perceptions and fostering acceptance. The world of cinema has long served an important role in this pursuit through representation, affirming lives, making the invisible visible, and inviting audiences into histories and experiences beyond their own.
